Everyone who has access to television, radio, internet, or any other form of media access, knows what happened to Jamie Rose Bolin of Purcell, Ok. I admit that what Kevin Underwood is deserving of some punishment other than what our constitution will allow, but why are we being punished for this atrocity? What have we done wrong? I'm sick of just about EVERY parent in the United States of America going into some kind of seizure everytime the word "MySpace" is uttered. I feel so badly for the MySpace creator, Tom. If you are surrounded by ingorance as I am, you will know EXACTLY what I am talking about. The Noble-that's in Oklahoma where I am, just north of purcell- public Library has now banned MySpace.com from the computers it has available for the public. The reason given for this was, "...because of what happened to that girl in Purcell..." which is completely stupid. First of all, MySpace had little to nothing to do with that poor girl's death. He lived under her in an apartment complex for God's sake! Yes, it is true that at one point during the investigation, the police had believed that Jamie could have possibly been abducted by someone she had met on this site. However, that hypothesis has clearly become obsolete. Basically, I'm sick of the ignorant bullshit that has risen from this. I'm 16 fucking years old! I'll be 17 in a few months! I'm not stupid enough to talk to someone I've never met in person before! All of my friends are people I talk to at school. If your child isn't as careful, they clearly do not need internet access of any kind without extreme adult supervision. That however, is not the case with me or any of my friends. Please, if you go to sites like MySpace in search of some kind of booty call, please never come back. It is not a site designed for hook-ups. It is as it claims, "A place for friends."
Well put, Anonymous! MySpace does not put live in jeopardy, stupid people do. Make your profile private, allow friends access. There are a thousand other ways to allow strangers into your life on the internet - do it if you are that lonely, but don't blame it on the medium.
hmm the amazing myspace. I have so many friends on there. I am 18 years old I remember when I was 10-15 and using the internet my parents use to watch what I did and questioned who I talked to and wanted to know where I was. My point here is THE INTERNET ISN'T A BABYSITTING TOOL FOR YOUR CHILDREN MONITER THEM. For the two anonymous people well put. If your child has no common sense they shouldnt be on the internet. You can meet people threw email, ims, chatrooms, and other websites. I guess some parents are to lazy to care about their kids. You can't blame a website because your too lazy to ask a few questions and look around....

Ryan, are you from Jersy or a school banning MySpace?
